The Water Divided
Like Moses and Elijah, Elisha parted a body of water. What supernatural nonsense!
I Kings 17: 17-24 Elijah brought a woman’s son back to life.
Is this the first Biblical resurrection?
II Kings 2:23-24 Elisha, (God’s prophet) goes to Bethel. Some little children called him bald head. Elisha cursed them in God’s name and two she bears came out of the woods and tore 42 of the children to pieces. KJV & Catholic
What? God’s hero, Elisha, had God send two she bears out of the woods to tear 42 children to pieces. Is this pure insanity or what? Are you sure you believe the Bible? Are you sure the Biblical God is a “God of Love”? How do you explain II Kings 2:23-24 to your children?
II Kings 4:32-35 Elisha found a dead child, laid on him, gave him mouth to mouth; the child came to life.
Elisha brought 2 children back to life. Is it supposed to make up for the 42 little children that Elisha cursed to death by having 2 bears tear them apart? Jesus resurrected Lazareth and others. How miraculous is Jesus’ resurrection if others had already come back to life?
II Kings 13:20-21 When a dead body touches Elisha’s bones, it comes to life.
Luke 7:11-17 Jesus raises a Widow from Nain’s dead boy to life.
Luke 8:40-56 Jesus said Jairus’s daughter was just sleeping and raised her back to life.
Integrity & the critical mind: If Jairus’ daughter was dead, then Jesus lied about her “just sleeping” and no miracle was performed.
John 11:1-44 Lazarus died. His body stunk. Jesus raised Lazaras back to life.
Matthew 27:50-53 When Jesus died on the cross, the bodies of many holy people came to life in the cemetery. They experienced resurrection.
Acts 9:36-42 Peter Raised Tabitha AKA Dorcus back to life. Everybody is amazed.
Acts 20:7-12 Paul Raised Eutychus back to life.
These are other Biblical characters who raised people from the dead besides Jesus. It somewhat dilutes Jesus’ power and importance of coming back to life for some logical minds. What realist would consider Jesus’ resurrection to be factual?
II Kings 6:18 Elisha prayed for God to smite people Blind. God did.
II Kings 8:7-15 Elisha (lied) told Hazael to tell Ben-Hadad he will recover. However, God showed Elisha Ben-Hadad would in fact die. Elisha said (to God): I know that You (God) will dash their little children to pieces and lay open their pregnant women.
There is just no room in these criminal stories for idealism and feel-good. This is not a loving God. If you believe these Bible C&Vs, how can you still support this Biblical God? Do you truly love this God? Do you fear this God? If so, doesn’t “monkey-mind” lead Human morality?
Some fundamentalist believers behave as if the Bible should always be taken literally – unless it’s convenient not to. “I’ve made up my mind so don’t confuse me with the facts.”
